The International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) returns to the ICC Sydney from 21–23 October 2025, with more opportunities than ever for mine site personnel to get involved. We caught up with Sherene Asnasyous, IMARC’s Event Director for Content and Partnerships, to find out what on-the-ground workers can expect from this year’s event – and why it’s worth locking in the dates now.
What sets IMARC apart from other mining events in Australia?
“IMARC is hands down the biggest and most international mining event in Australia – and not just by numbers. It’s where the global and local mining industries meet. We bring together over 10,000 attendees from 120+ countries, more than 500 exhibitors, and 550 speakers across six conference streams, so there are ample opportunities to network, meet suppliers, and learn across the three days.
“What really makes IMARC unique is that we cover the entire mining value chain. From exploration and investment to production and global trade, every stage of the mining process is represented. No matter what your role is in the industry, there’s something here for you.”
What opportunities does IMARC offer that would be valuable to mine site workers?
“This year, IMARC is more accessible and relevant for miners at an operational level within mining companies and contract miners. We’ve expanded the free Mining Guest Pass to welcome even more operators who play a vital role in keeping operations and plants running smoothly.
“One of the things we’re most excited about is the Mining Operators Series. It’s built specifically for operators, engineers, supervisors, and managers. You’ll be able to earn CPD points and attend practical sessions on topics like boosting productivity, adopting new tech, and optimising operations. There is a range of technical sessions for both open cut and underground mines, and a look at minerals processing topics too.
“And it’s not just about sitting in conference theatres – we have guided tours of the exhibition floor where you can check out hands-on displays and demos, plus networking sessions just for miners so you can connect with others in similar roles.”
What else can they get involved in or experience at IMARC?
“The expo floor is massive – over 500 exhibitors from all over the world showing off the latest gear, services, and tech. You’ll see big names like Ampol, bp/Castrol, Brokk, Epiroc, FLSmidth, Hexagon, Hitachi Wenco, IMDEX, Metso, Sandvik at IMARC, but we’re also showcasing some of the latest R&D and incubator innovations, and a whole lot more.
“If you’re involved in choosing equipment or services to be used onsite, we have the VIP Hosted Buyer Program, offering a special tour of the expo, private meetings with suppliers, and access to exclusive networking events – a great way to connect with the right people fast.
“And outside of the main expo and conference, there are sideline events happening too hosted by both local and international organisations. These range from industry meetups and networking sessions to product launches, adding more value to your visit.”
Why should on-the-ground workers consider attending IMARC, and how can they find out more?
“If you’re working on-site, IMARC gives you access to ideas and tools that could genuinely improve how you do things back at work.
“And the best part? It’s free for mining personnel. You can learn new skills, earn CPD points, meet industry colleagues, check out tech trends, and head back to site with fresh ideas the following week.”
