CapRescue has been flying over central Queensland at no cost to anyone who needs it thanks to loyal supporters of the Service. Whitehaven has now jumped on board as the latest BlueSky Partner.
Working together with Whitehaven ensures the Rescue300 can provide the best chance of recovery, because a region that measures 350,000km2 needs a fast response.
Whitehaven Regional General Manager QLD Dan Iliffe said CapRescue provided an essential service to regional communities.
“We’re proud to be able to help keep Rescue300 in the air through our ongoing financial support.
“We know how important the service is for families, workers and communities right across Central Queensland. Partnering with CapRescue is one way we can give back to our region and help ensure rapid, lifesaving care is available to people in their toughest moments.
“This contribution is part of Whitehaven’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities that support us. We look forward to a long and meaningful partnership with CapRescue,” said Dan.
CapRescue CEO Darren Pirie said partnerships like this are vital to keeping the service ready to respond at any time.
“We’re grateful for Whitehaven’s support and their recognition of the role CapRescue plays in safeguarding the people of Central Queensland. Their dedication to the local community makes them a strong partner in ensuring help is always close at hand in an emergency.”
To celebrate the partnership, some of Whitehaven’s team had the privilege of visiting the CapRescue hangar and seeing the Rescue300 up close.
CapRescue was also presented with a $5,000 cheque from Whitehaven Coal’s Blackwater Mine team who donated their Team of the Year Aawrd prize to the lifesaving service.
Whitehaven’s operations are based in Blackwater – they’re focused on strengthening and giving back to the local areas where it operates. As part of the Central Highlands, they are helping support a region that accounted for almost a third of all CapRescue tasks in 2024 — over 170 rescues and nearly $5 million in operational costs.
The BlueSky Partner program connects CapRescue with organisations committed to sustaining the service for future generations. Whitehaven’s support will contribute directly to the operational costs required to keep Rescue300 mission-ready, 24/7, 365 days a year.
