The Victims of Crime Assistance League

VOCAL’s mission is to support anyone who has experienced crime-related trauma, including physical assault, domestic and family violence. They support family members of homicide victims, victims of sexual assault and those who experience psychological and physical injury caused by motor vehicle injury.

SOUPZ ON

Soupz On is an organisation run by Wayne and Rosie Dowling which has been providing those less fortunate with a hot meal and friendly chat for over ten years in Cessnock. In addition to a free hot meal, Soupz On also donates goods to distribute to those in the community who need them.

Coalfields Local History Association Inc.

Operating out of the Sir Edgeworth David Memorial Museum in Abermain and made up entirely of volunteers, the association is passionate about preserving the region’s history. As the museum steadily grows the Association desperately needs funding to allow these invaluable historical items to be exhibited with the care and respect they deserve.

GUNNEDAH LIONS CLUB

Every community relies on its local Lions Club and in Gunnedah the Lions Club has been tirelessly raising money for the community for over six decades as well as providing a place of fellowship for its members. Since its inception, the Gunnedah Lions have put more than $1 million back into their local community.

CARRIE’S PLACE

Imagine being a victim of domestic violence, facing fleeing your home and risking homelessness and your and your children’s safety. For 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 8 men, that is the reality. Carrie’s Place is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers whose mission is to help keep those people safe.

SOUTHLAKES INC.

Southlakes Inc. was founded by Christine Mastello when she saw that there was a desperate need in her local community for a food bank, however emergency food relief makes up only a small part of the work Southlakes do. Through its school welfare program, a homeless outreach program and community hair project, Southlakes Inc. has helped more than 1.5 million people over the last 10 years.

ROOHAVEN WILDLIFE

Roohaven Wildlife has been rescuing kangaroos, wombats, possums, lizards and every other native animal in between in the Upper Hunter since its founders Brad and Julie Smith’s daughter brought home a joey 17 years ago. Since that very first joey, Brad and Julie have released over 600 animals.

SINGLETON PCYC

Since 1937, the Police Citizens Youth Club NSW (PCYC) has been providing activities to empower young people to reach their potential in a safe, fun and friendly environment. Similarly, the Singleton PCYC has a long and proud tradition and is committed to engaging with, and positively influencing, its 900 members through sport, recreation, education, leadership and cultural programs.

ABERGLASSLYN ANTS

When Aberglasslyn Ants player Brodie Pearson suffered a fatal injury during a game the club rallied, holding several fundraisers including the inaugural Brodie Pearson Memorial Rugby League 9s Day to honour their fallen teammate and raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

High Tea for Ovarian Cancer

North Rothbury’s Helen Scott started an annual high tea in 2015 in a bid to raise money for women’s cancer and since its inception has raised over $35,000. All of the money raised goes directly to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation to help fight this insidious disease.
