Supplier Insider @ The Coalface

Tell us about the business.

Tefol is a family-owned company that commenced trading in 2004 in a 132m squared shed with one truck, in the Hunter Valley of NSW, and then expanded to the Northern Queensland Division ten years later. The key service offered at the time was line boring and since then Tefol has expanded into a multi-disciplinary service provider for the mining, marine, agricultural and transport sectors.

What initially started out as a core focus on precision machining, has grown exponentially into a diverse portfolio that now includes transport repairs and maintenance, ladder access systems and engine access platforms, blast and paint, embedded logic control systems, emergency response vehicle body building, retrofits and refurbishments.

This growth has been driven by a problem-solving mindset rather than a product-pushing approach. At Tefol, we stand by providing solutions rather than just selling products to our clients. This philosophy has been embedded into the values of the business, and has led to the development of world-class, customisable product lines tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients across Australia.

How many people work for the business?

Our Northern Queensland Division has 27 staff.

The uncertain future of the coal mines, budget and economic forecasting.

What are the biggest opportunities for your business right now?

More opportunities to expand our service offerings within the manufacturing sectors, giving more brand awareness to our in-house engineering team that can help with a wide scope of projects.

What is the business most proud of?

The ability to adapt to the climate and to conduct constant research and development allows us to ensure that all products manufactured in-house are up to standard. We also always look at ways to improve our processes.

We are also proud of our excellent customer service – from concept through to project completion, our team are with our clients every step of the way and are available to provide support even long after the project ends.

Our team proudly supports Beyond Blue and participated in the Beyond Bitumen Rally alongside its NSW counterparts earlier this year.

We are also huge advocates for supporting local and aim to utilise local Australian businesses where we can.

Any employees that deserve a shout out?

As a company, we pride ourselves on our commitment to working as part of a team. From fully certified tradesmen to apprentices, they all play a vital role in the day-to-day life of our branch, and we thank them for their performance and attention to detail.
