Festival @ The Coalface

It’s that time of year again, where Moura gears up for its ever-popular annual Coal and Country Festival. The Moura Recreational Grounds will be transformed over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August, turning into a hub of fun, excitement, thrills and spills.

This much-loved festival is all about celebrating our community’s roots and having a good time with family and friends.

The Festival kicks off on the Friday night with a motor bike show from the boys at MadStyleMoto followed by the Buma Bullarama with a half time tug of war event. It’s always a crowd-pleaser, with teams from local businesses, schools, and community groups going head-to-head.

Gates open at 4pm on the Friday evening.

Saturday’s action starts at 9:30am with a bang. The street parade is another crowd pleaser with floats, marching bands, vintage cars, emergency services and local groups filling the streets with colour and music. It’s a great way to see the town come together and show off what makes Moura special.

One of the big draw cards is the Qld titles for coal-shovelling and roof bolting. This isn’t just about muscle; it’s about skill and timing, it’s tough, and it’s a nod to the hard work that built this region. Also, the VE Group excavator challenge. Come cheer on the competitors and anyone can enter not just the experts!
