Tell us about the business.

I’m Nathan Corbett, the Managing Director of ONSITE | Training Australia. We train strategic trainers and leaders. We are proud to be an ‘in demand’ training organisation that provides a practical, realistic and hands on approach to mining, rail and construction industry Trainer Assessors across Australia. Our mission is to ‘Improve industry – one trainer, one leader at a time.’

How long have you been doing business?

We have been in business for three years operating out of the Bowen Basin and we continue to expand our client base around Australia and abroad.

How many people work for the business?

We have five awesome team members and are growing.

Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.

There is no typical day! We could be in our office or out on a site or workplace conducting a course or travelling all over meeting clients. The only typical thing in a day is we are all busy, busy, busy!

What’s the best thing about the business?

We value the ‘Tick of Competence’ so that when you walk away from a course you felt like you have earnt it.

ONSITE | Training Australia works closely with our customers to design and deliver safety, training and compliance courses that are to spec. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for all our customers and delivering more than expected. All our courses include customisable content relevant to our customers specific organisational needs. Once the training is complete, they will see improvements in production, safety and culture well into the future.

The worst thing?

Not being able to help everyone all at once. We are very in demand and are not always able to help everyone.

What are the biggest challenges facing your business?

Striving to expand quickly enough to meet the demands of our growing client base whilst maintaining the high standards we pride ourselves on. Making sure we have the very best trainers and assessors and staying on top of compliance and regulations across all the industries we operate in.

What is the biggest opportunity for your business right now?

Expanding the courses we have on offer so we can provide even more quality services to our customers.

What is the business most proud of?

We are extremely proud of all the awards we have won, in particular, the 2021 Training Consultant of the Year (Asia Pacific) (Winner), 2022 Resource Industry Network – Community Award (Winner), and the 2022 Queensland Training Awards – VET Trainer of the year (Central QLD Finalist). It’s a privilege to be nominated for these awards alongside other fantastic organisations, and to take home wins is a validation that what we are doing is making a difference.

Community or other causes close to its heart and values?

We like to get involved in our community in any way we can. One of the causes we are proud to support is Leading our Lives. This is a not-for-profit initiative we run annually to promote self-resilience and self-leadership in students in Year 6 as they transition into high school.

Any funny or heartwarming stories to share?

People often find it hard to stand up or speak in front of other people. It is very rewarding to see people as they progress through their training to step forward with confidence and grow within themselves – all while having a laugh. Our ‘Have a go! Have fun!’ is about it being ok to step out of our comfort zones and have fun at the same time in a safe and respectful environment.

Any employees that deserve a shout out?

Every single one of our employees deserves a shout out! A business is only as good as the people who work for it and I’m extremely proud of each and every one of the amazing people we have working here.
