Tell us about the business.
Earthmoving Supplies is a new Australian-owned and operated business that enables customers to access an extensive range of parts across numerous OEMs, manufacturers, conditions, makes and models.
Finding a one-stop shop for parts is a universally persistent problem for mixed fleet operators looking for a variety of parts across multiple makes and models. Our business provides a solution to this through our global supply chain and proprietary tech platform, enabling us to connect customers with products.
How long have you been doing business?
Although we only officially launched in March, Earthmoving Supplies has been operating since 1 July 2022.
Our company is the brainchild of a handful of people who have worked in the machinery and components industry for numerous years. Having identified a significant global problem, they saw it as the perfect opportunity to combine their technical, operational, and technological expertise to build a solution.
How many people work for the business?
We currently have two employees, led by Phil Pollock, Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Our founding leadership team comprises a group of four industry experts with a breadth of local and international experience across mining and equipment.
Phil Pollock has held multiple executive roles with Caterpillar Inc, including Global Director for Construction Industries Aftermarket Business and Asia Pacific General Manager for Construction and Infrastructure.
Ben Hailes, Director of Sales, has held several senior management roles in Australia’s leading investment managers. Introduced to heavy earthmoving and mining industries in 2012, Ben was engaged as the General Manager of Orionstone (now Emeco), then one of Australia’s largest heavy earthmoving rental businesses.
Operations Director Daniel Fedder has spent his career in the mining industry, working through mining cycles on both the miner and buyer sides and the seller and supplier sides. He has global procurement experience in copper, coal, and zinc mining and has multicategory procurement experience, namely in capital equipment and mining consumables.
With two decades of experience in information systems, Adrian Vinnicombe, Director of Innovation, has worked across the financial services and heavy equipment industries. Having attained a Masters in Project Management, Adrian has led a broad range of projects in the information systems field, including designing and implementing systems in financial services, transaction processing, and asset management.
What’s the best thing about the business?
The great thing about Earthmoving Supplies is our commitment to innovation. Unlike others, we are not your typical parts supplier. When you look under the bonnet, we’re actually a tech company that supports the earthmoving industry in simplifying and consolidating their parts purchasing process.
Earthmoving Supplies uses the same technological IP that drives our sister company, ComponentsONLY. By expanding upon the IP that sits at the core of ComponentsONLY, we were able to develop a new business that supports a global market for heavy earthmoving equipment parts.
What are the biggest challenges facing your business?
Like most start-ups, it’s keeping up with the rate of growth. We are a small, agile team, and while we are in the start-up phase, we all wear many hats.
What is the biggest opportunity for your business right now?
Because we understand that customers are often time-poor, we have created a platform to improve the delivery of that service experience for parts availability. For sellers, Earthmoving Supplies’ digital platform provides an eco-system that proactively addresses for OEMs, dealers and customers the ongoing challenge of new, unused parts that are excess to demand and allows sellers to remarket those on a local, regional, and global basis. We provide unprecedented access to new unused parts for all OEM and aftermarket brands and all makes and models in a single location.
What is the business most proud of?
At Earthmoving Supplies, we pride ourselves on delivering customers any part, any brand, anywhere. We can source the hard-to-find parts that other suppliers cannot.
