Save the date! The Moura Coal & Country Festival committee is very excited to bring back the much-loved annual event on the 16th & 17th of August 2024.

Every year the Moura Coal & Country Festival gets bigger and better and 2024 is set to eclipse all the previous festivals.

The festivities kick off on Friday night with the official festival opening by Moura Coal & Country President and local councilmen, followed by a performance by the Moura School of Ballet.

Then the Bullarama starts! With action packed bull riding entertainment, halftime performance by the talented trick riding Breanna Cook ‘Sweet Sol Horsemanship’, plus bar and music until late.

You also won’t want to miss a stroll up the sideshow alley, with plenty of bars, market, food and trade stalls to capture your fancy.

Saturday’s packed schedule begins at 9:30am with a street procession and then it’s straight into a dizzying array of activities, shows and contests.

First up there’s plenty of free kids’ entertainment with the D’Aguilar Wildlife – a Wildlife Conservation Experience where you can get up close with Australian native animals including koalas, crocodiles, birds, mammals and reptiles. Laser skirmish, camel rides, face painting, petting zoo, and even a best dressed dog competition will keep the kids busy, plus back again this year are the Memphis Moovers with their mini cars providing roving entertainment.

Check out Mitsui’s cultural tent where you can sample delicious food, try your hand at calligraphy writing, plus many other authentic Japanese activities everyone can get involved in.

Competition will be fierce at the VE Group Excavator Challenge, and don’t forget the Queensland titles for coal shovelling and roof bolting are held at the festival. Amateur competitions will also be run during the day so anyone can have a crack at coal shovelling.

Want more? There’s the cattle and dog shows, the pavilion showcasing the finest arts, crafts and produce from across the region, sideshow alley, tons of trade and food stalls, exhibits, Tug O’ War and local motorbike freeride. Then to finish off a fantastic weekend, fireworks, a laser show and live music from ‘Chris Bax Band’ and bar until late.

There really is something for everyone at the MCCF!
