PINK POWER

There’s some pink power getting around Primepower Queensland with the company holding a fundraiser in June for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), painting two QSK60 engines to support the charity and help raise awareness.

Primepower Queensland Operations Administrator Paige Storey said supporting NBCF was something the whole team got behind.

“This was an idea we’ve been thinking about for quite some time. With June being GO PINK month and having the two engines in the workshop it was perfect timing.”

Primepower partnered with their client Thiess, the owner of the two engines that will be fitted to Liebherr 9800 excavators. Both engines will head to a Thiess site where the vibrant pink colour and NBCF logo will continue to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Every day 58 people in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer which equates to over 21,000 people diagnosed each year. Every year over 3,300 people in Australia (including 33 men) will die from breast cancer. That’s 9 Australians dying from the disease every day.

NBCF is a not-for-profit organisation that funds world-class breast cancer research. Since 1994, NBCF has invested over $200 million into more than 600 world-class research projects across Australia. During that time the death rate has reduced by over 40% thanks in large part to research in prevention, early detection and new and improved breast cancer treatments.

NBCF’s ultimate vision is zero deaths from breast cancer.

“It is such an important mission and we are glad to be able to play a part to help,” said Paige.

“Thiess was great, jumping straight onboard to let us paint the engines for the fundraiser and saying they would be proud to have them on site. Our General Manager Alex Brown didn’t hesitate to approve the financial outlay, from hosting the BBQ to painting the engines. Even the team were happy to work overtime to paint the engines.”

The fundraiser has raised $4,798 so far but it’s not too late to donate to this great cause.
