Nestled in the heart of Mackay, Bing’s Nomiya Restaurant is a gem that beckons food enthusiasts to embark on a divine culinary journey.

From the moment we stepped into this oasis of Japanese flavours, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of reverent appreciation and gastronomic delight. Our visit to Bing’s Nomiya was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving an indelible impression that we will cherish for years to come.

Located 147 Victoria Street, Mackay, Nomiya is Japanese for “counter bar” often found in charming Japanese alleyways. As a surname, it means civilian or temple. Either way, it is the perfect title for chef Bing’s intimate establishment.

Boasting an exquisite fusion of traditional and contemporary Japanese aesthetics, the warm lighting, elegant wooden furnishings, and tasteful décor create an ambience that is both tranquil and inviting. The restaurant’s peaceful atmosphere is the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or seeking solace in exceptional cuisine.

One cannot speak of Bing’s Nomiya without extolling the virtues of their impeccable sashimi and sushi creations.

The sashimi platter presented an array of impeccably fresh seafood, meticulously sliced and arranged to showcase the chef’s expertise. Each piece melted in our mouths, releasing a burst of oceanic flavours that transported us to the coast of Japan. The sushi, a work of art, displayed a symphony of vibrant colours and intricate textures. The delicate balance of flavours in every bite was a testament to the skill and passion of the culinary artisans at Bing’s Nomiya.

The nigiri selection left us in awe of the harmonious marriage between rice and seafood. Every piece of nigiri was masterfully crafted, the sushi rice perfectly seasoned and formed, providing a sublime canvas for the succulent toppings. Each bite offered a harmonious blend of textures and tastes, showcasing the highest quality ingredients and the chef’s dedication to perfection.

Bing’s Nomiya also showcases their mastery in the art of soul-nourishing Ramen. The Chicken Ramen and Beef Ramen we indulged in were a symphony of flavours and textures that warmed our souls. The rich, aromatic broth was a testament to the hours of meticulous preparation, simmering and refining the flavours to perfection. The noodles, firm yet tender, entwined themselves harmoniously with the tender chicken or succulent beef. Each spoonful of the Ramen was a comforting embrace, infusing us with a sense of contentment and satisfaction.

To complement our culinary journey, we were delighted to discover an extensive beverage menu, featuring the iconic Asahi Beer. Served chilled, the golden elixir of Asahi elevated our dining experience to new heights. Its crisp, clean taste provided a refreshing contrast to the intricate flavours of the cuisine, making it the ideal accompaniment to our meal.

Our visit to Bing’s Nomiya was an extraordinary journey that transcended mere dining. From the ethereal sashimi and sushi to the soul-nourishing Ramen and the delightful Asahi Beer, every aspect of our experience was infused with reverence, appreciation, and culinary artistry.
