The inaugural Outback 4WD Adventure kicks off on
September 22 and will see entrants travel 2740km from
Cobar to Broken Hill via the Simpson Desert.
The event is being held to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of
Australia. Geoff Andrews is a contractor at Rix’s Creek who knows firsthand
the terrible impacts of prostate cancer, losing his father to the terrible disease.
“In mining where a significant part of the workforce is male you would
think that prostate cancer would really be at the forefront, however little
is said. I got involved in this event to help bring awareness. 3,300 men
die every year in Australia from prostate cancer with 1 in 8 blokes
affected. Getting the word out and raising money is so important and
this event does both those things.” Geoff said.
Geoff and his team mates Andrew Gray and James Matt are working hard to
be the top fundraisers and are currently in second place. “We want to thank
D&L Transport, Bailey Property & Livestock, Simmons Bulk Haulage and staff
at Wandoan QLD Gas Project who have got behind us. Not to mention all the
family, friends and locals.” Geoff said.

number one fundraiser spot, go to www.pcfarally.com.au and donate to
