The Maitland Lions Club Motorfest is back at Maitland
Showground on Sunday August 26 and it’s going to be
larger and louder than ever before.
This year along with the annual Show and Shine event, the Motorfest will also
be hosting for the first time a Swap Meet. There will be plenty of stalls, hot
rods and entertainment for the young and old.
Geoff Kilmurray from the Lions Club of Maitland says that this year the event
will have a special significance as it sees Lions Club’s from the Hunter joining
forces to raise much needed funds for a new program. Maitland Lions, East
Maitland Lions, West Maitland Centennial Lions, Kurri Lions, Cessnock Lions,
Cessnock Wine Country Lions, Branxton Lions and Raymond Terrace Lions
are all working together.
The Motorfest Show has raised much needed funds for many charities
over the years, but this year all the funds raised will be directed into a
new program called The Lions 4 Kids in Need.
“The new program will assist families with serious ill children at the John
Hunter Hospital and also when they depart the hospital. The project is too big
for just one Lion’s Club and we are all working together to get it off the
ground. To see the clubs uniting together for this cause is fantastic and it’s
really going to make a big difference for those families.” Geoff said.
“We are also thankful to have Shannon’s on board with sponsorship this year
and we hope with the support of the community we can raise a lot of money to
make the program a success.”
So get yourself to Maitland Motorfest to support a fantastic cause and have a
great day out!
