Coal Services

Expressions of Interest are now open for the Coal Services Health & Safety Trust (the Trust) latest round of Research and Development grants.

The Trust has been investing in projects and research aimed to improve the coal mining industry since 1991. Over the last 33 years, the Trust grants have helped applicants turn their ideas into practical solutions and share their insights with the coal mining community.

The Trust is dedicated to funding projects that elevate health and safety standards for mine workers, operators, and the broader mining community. These projects transform innovative ideas into practical solutions, significantly impacting the lives of those within the coal mining sector.

This funding opportunity is open to a diverse range of contributors, including companies, researchers, nonprofit organisations, community groups, and individuals committed to making a different in the industry.

The Coal Services Health & Safety Trust is now seeking proposals that address crucial areas affecting the workforce, such as:

  • illnesses caused by dust and other airborne contaminants.
  • mental health
  • obesity
  • musculoskeletal injuries
  • serious injury causal factors
  • fatigue

Interested parties are encouraged to visit Coal Services Health & Safety Trust for more information ahead of the EOI closing date, Friday, 4 July 2025.
