The Combined Unions Christmas Party lit up Moranbah on November 30, as union members and their families came together for a day packed with fun, laughter and festive spirit.

After a week of heavy downpours the clouds finally gave way and the sun made a glorious appearance, setting the perfect scene for the celebrations.

The day had something for everyone, amusement rides, delicious food and drink stalls, glitter tattoos and the standout performance of the day by local favourite Luke Geiger who had everyone tapping their feet and singing along.

Of course, no Christmas party would be complete without the man of the hour, Santa Claus! Santa and his cheerful elves made their much-loved appearance, bringing huge smiles to the kids (and a few adults) with their jolly antics, lolly stash and festive cheer.

Danny Kliese from Peak Downs summed up the heart of the event perfectly.

“It’s an important day as it brings all the families together of the local unionists and gives them a great day out.”

Jason Noonan, Treasurer of the Peak Downs Lodge, highlighted the importance of union membership.

“Being part of a union means better financial security, a safer and fairer workplace, and the assurance that they’ll support you and your family in times of need.”

The party was a smashing success, with families soaking up the sunshine, enjoying the entertainment, and coming together to celebrate another year of solidarity and community spirit.

The Combined Unions Christmas Party continues to be a treasured tradition, giving everyone a chance to relax, connect and kick off the holiday season!
