Update from The Dialogue: Community Forum Feedback, Pasture Restoration Field Day and Rehabilitation and Water use data

The Dialogue is preparing for a Pasture Restoration Field Day in October that will involve tours of mine rehabilitation and information sharing focusing on pasture establishment. The tour will take place across a number of mine sites in the Upper Hunter that have been rehabilitated to pasture and highlight the mining industry’s commitment to providing a positive legacy for Upper Hunter communities post-mining.

The idea for a combined briefing/discussion and field day came from a community member on our Joint Environment Working Group in early 2022 and from a recently published ACARP research project which the Dialogue supported, examining past and present mine rehabilitation to grazing land as a guide to future research.

The Field Day will be a wonderful opportunity for agronomists, mining industry personnel and other key stakeholders from government, local councils, and community groups to come together to promote successes in the mining industry and share and discuss rehabilitated mine pasture research that can support continuous improvement and potentially better results.

The Dialogue is looking forward to very productive conversations and to sharing the learnings and outcomes from the day.
