Coal Australia is loud and proud about the coal mining industry and the people and businesses that are a part of it. Which is why The Davidson Company (TDC), founders, Glen and Adena Davidson, were more than happy to sign up and join its cause.
Glen and Adena are firm backers of the coal industry, strong in their belief that Australia has a bright and prosperous future that is directly linked to coal.
Glen came into the industry as a mature aged student, after spending nearly 20 years as a pilot flying around regional Queensland. After a while he decided he wanted a change, so he studied at the University of Queensland to become an engineer.
“When Glen started his second career, we realised he had quite a unique skillset with his experience in aviation and defence and now mining. He was a big asset.
“We have been running our own company and consulting to industry since 2019. Glen is the engineering side of the business and I’m the business manager,” said Adena.
TDC offers premium consultancy services to set up businesses for success. As the Director of TDC, Glen helps set up and manage projects to meet objectives of the business and stakeholders, strong communication strategies, correct allocation of resources, ensure schedules are developed and adhered to and TDC offers review processes, project recovery and health checks for clients, etc.
“The best part of my job is solving problems for my clients, building relationships with stakeholders, helping build strong teams and travelling to regional areas and spending time with the local community,” said Glen.
Glen thoroughly enjoys his work and said without the mining industry he wouldn’t have the opportunity to do what he does now.
“The coal industry provided my first entry into mining and resources and gave my family an opportunity to advance. Whilst regional travel forces some sacrifice of family time and can be difficult to manage, it helped my family get a stable start to advancing our prospects and building on our homeownership and educational opportunities for our child.
“Although a lot of people may not realise it, Queensland particularly, has been built upon coal mining, not just agriculture.
“Coal Australia advocates for this industry as it knows the benefits of this resource and industry better than anyone else,” Glen added.
Adena said Coal Australia is spreading some positive understandings about the industry.
“I think there is quite a significant lack of understanding of the value of some of these industries and what they do for us. Sometimes coal mining has been particularly quiet about the value it provides to our society.
“Without a strong coal-mining industry, many of our regions would be decimated, our land abandoned, progress stunted and hope and opportunities for the local people gravely diminished.”
Glen and Adena are encouraging everyone to sign up and be a part of the Coal Australia community.
“Word of mouth is one of the most effective marketing tools we have. The more people who sign up to Coal Australia, the more advocates there are for this industry,” Glen said.
Adena and Glen’s story isn’t unusual, it’s a story that we hear from so many people living in coal mining communities right across Australia. Reach out if you want to share your story or join the coal community and help forge Australia’s future at www.coalaustralia.com |
