Ultra Fleet Turn 10!

Ultra Fleet have been supplying full mine spec 4X4 and commercial vehicles in the Northwest, Hunter and anywhere else people need to hire a work vehicle and this September they are celebrating 10 years in business.

In 2011, Jacinta and Jason Mannion kicked off the business with just 4 vehicles and Jacinta running the entire operation on her own. Today Ultra Fleet boasts another 2 staff and over 140 vehicles in their fleet which are available for both long and short term hires to all industries.

Ultra Fleet started when Jacinta’s husband Jason couldn’t get to work when contracted in the mines in Gunnedah due to his car getting serviced. After a discussion about a hire company with mine site specific accessories and compliance with all the mine regulations, and some research and discussion with their accountant, Jacinta and Jason ordered 4 Utes and trays, packed up their life in Inverell and relocated to Gunnedah in August 2011.

“In late September 2011, the 4 vehicles had arrived in Gunnedah and we used our local suppliers to finish the electrical and signage ready to get Ultra Fleet out on the Northwest roads,” said Jacinta.

“We had some great business relationships already formed so we approached local mines and became a preferred supplier.

“Being local and having great customer service and a great quality product, before long we had 10 Utes on the road and even in the mining downturn in 2013 we continued the hires on our small fleet.”

Ultra Fleet went on to win the Excellence in Business Award in 2018 for Gunnedah with Jacinta winning the Business Leader award in that same year.

Now with another 2 employees in the business Ultra Fleet have new processes and systems including after hour drop offs and pick up, electronic prestarts and booking systems and booking service apps on their website.

Jacinta had big plans for Ultra Fleet’s 10 year celebration, with Covid putting a hold on them. But new plans have been put in place with merchandise specially designed to celebrate 10 years in the business. “I have also ordered 10 Hilux’s to celebrate 10 years, although it’s hard to get vehicles in the current situation with supply issues,” Jacinta added.

The privately owned family business has grown organically over the past decade with Jacinta’s strong values of family and supporting local businesses at the forefront, always sourcing things locally where possible.

“My family have been my number one supporters and have always pulled together to help keep Ultra Fleet moving, at times even cleaning Utes in their school holidays and after school,” said Jacinta.

“I love seeing my vehicles driving around town and all over NSW; you never know where you will find one and being known as a leader in the hire industry within Northwest NSW is amazing.”

The support Jacinta and the Ultra Fleet team have given to their local community is something that sets them apart from their competitors, with the way they do business always coming back to those family values. Supporting all sports and local events around Gunnedah and the district, Jacinta said supporting locals is her passion.

“I have met some great people through hiring and using their business with Ultra Fleet and it’s so rewarding seeing kids running around playing sport wearing Ultra Fleet on their jerseys, supporting the local golf day or the Ultra Diva at the local races,” Jacinta said.

So, what’s next for Ultra Fleet?

Jacinta has been focused on implementing a strong protocol within Ultra Fleet as a business, with hopes to open additional branches in Mudgee, the Hunter Valley and wherever the market takes her. “Going national across Australia would never be out of the picture,” said Jacinta.
