The Homestead @ Lotus Creek, managed by Jen and Lindsay Hart, offers a unique camping experience and a delightful restaurant in a serene creek-side location.

Owned by the Kemp family, the venue showcases their business acumen from the nearby feedlot property, resulting in a vibrant and welcoming country homestead. With attention to detail and a strong focus on community, The Homestead @ Lotus Creek has become a cherished destination.

Situated at 12287 Marlborough-Sarina Road, it is nestled on the banks of Lotus Creek, easily accessible via a bitumen road. The venue has a rich history, previously owned by Sandy as a service station and camping spot. However, after the devastating floods caused by Cyclone Debbie in 2017, the property closed for a few years. The Kemp family, driven by their desire to contribute to the community’s safety, acquired the property. With a vision for a vibrant country homestead, they embarked on transforming the site into a haven for locals and visitors alike.

Under the guidance of David Kemp, the Kemp family embarked on renovating the property, which included two relocated Queenslander homes. The buildings were lovingly restored and connected with traditional verandahs, creating a charming shop, café, and restaurant. The family’s vision was to provide a welcoming gathering place for the community, where they could enjoy coffee, celebrate special occasions, and indulge in delicious food. With the support of their managers, Jen and Lindsay, and the enthusiastic crew, the family’s dream became a reality.

The Homestead @ Lotus Creek offers a range of facilities and amenities to enhance guests’ experiences.

The creekfront campgrounds provide spacious sites, allowing campers to enjoy campfires and mingle around the communal fire pit. Self-contained cabins offer comfortable accommodation with ensuite bathrooms and individual balcony verandahs. The venue also features concrete walkways, a floating pontoon for easy creek access, and gazebo and BBQ areas for outdoor enjoyment. With a focus on off-grid living, guests can escape the stresses of the outside world and immerse themselves in a tranquil environment.

The Homestead @ Lotus Creek’s restaurant is a culinary delight, offering a traditional farmhouse-style menu with a focus on quality ingredients. The fully equipped kitchen produces exceptional meals that cater to all tastes.

Whether guests opt for a quick sandwich or a delectable sweet treat from the café or choose to dine at the restaurant on Friday or Saturday evenings, or even pick up a take-away meal after a busy day, they are in for a memorable experience. Local takeaway takes on an extended meaning when it could be a 150km round trip!

The menu features favourites like sausages, rissoles, steak, and vegetables, with mouth-watering burgers and perfectly cooked chips. During our stay, we decided to indulge.
