Morgan Engineering delivers engineering, manufacturing and field service solutions to some of Australia’s most demanding industries. Our capabilities span welding and fabrication, CNC machining, line boring, component reclamation, service exchange and on-site support.
Over the years, we have worked across mining, manufacturing, rail and defence, building a reputation for tackling complex projects and helping customers solve problems when it matters most.
How long have you been doing business?
Morgan Engineering has been operating for more than 50 years.
What started in a small shed has grown into a business with six locations across NSW and the capability to support customers nationwide. While the business has expanded significantly, we have remained committed to continuous improvement, investing in people, facilities and equipment to meet the needs of Australian industry.
How many people work for the business?
Morgan Engineering employs nearly 140 people across a range of trades, technical, operational and support roles.
We are proud to offer career opportunities across regional NSW, with a strong focus on apprenticeships, skills development and leadership pathways. We also offer FIFO, DIDO, and roster-based arrangements that help our people balance careers with family and community commitments.
Describe a typical day at ‘the office’.
There really is no typical day, and that’s one of the reasons people enjoy working here. On any given day, our teams could be machining a critical component, fabricating large-scale equipment, supporting a rail project, responding to a site breakdown or preparing for a field service mobilisation.
No matter what the day brings, there’s a strong sense of teamwork and pride in getting the job done.
What are the biggest challenges facing your business?
Like many regional businesses, attracting and retaining skilled tradespeople continues to be a challenge. Global supply chain pressures, rising material costs, and fluctuations in freight and procurement timelines can also create uncertainty for businesses and customers.
The challenge is staying agile while continuing to deliver the high standards our customers expect.
What are the biggest opportunities for your business right now?
We are continuing to invest in our facilities, equipment, and capabilities, including the development of our Tray Refurbishment facility featuring a large-capacity crane structure that will allow us to undertake larger and more complex projects.
We are also seeing opportunities to expand our service offering, strengthen customer partnerships and grow our footprint.
What is the business most proud of?
More than any project or milestone, Morgan Engineering’s greatest legacy is the people who have been part of the journey.
Over the past 50 years, we’ve helped develop generations of skilled tradespeople, apprentices and industry professionals. Watching people build careers, develop skills and progress into leadership roles is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
Community or other causes close to its heart and values?
Being part of regional communities means giving back to them.
We support local charities, sporting groups, schools, community organisations and fundraising initiatives through sponsorships, donations, awareness campaigns and practical assistance.
Where possible, we also prioritise working with Hunter Valley and regional NSW businesses. Our commitment to buying local supports suppliers, creates a positive flow-on effect, strengthens the local economy and helps our communities continue to thrive.
