Football players and coaches at The Singleton Strikers Football Club – Premier team are scoring goals in style with new equipment, thanks to a $6,600 donation from Yancoal Australia’s Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) operation.

The funding enabled the purchase of two full size portable football goals that are used extensively by the club’s youth and senior players at training and for weekly competitions. The goals are made from top-quality durable materials, offering good balance for high performance play.

Warren Gillespie, Premier Secretary of the Singleton Strikers Football Club said everyone is very excited about the new equipment.

“We recognised the immediate need to upgrade our equipment for the benefit of the football community in training and competition matches.

“The new portable goals are easy to transport across training fields and have nets that are sturdy and can withstand the toughest of game play.

“We are passionate about our football and pride ourselves on providing Premier Football pathways for male and female players from nine years old through to seniors for the Upper Hunter.

“The football club keeps growing with over 150 registered players from Singleton, Muswellbrook, the Upper Hunter Shire and Maitland and we are always looking at ways to improve to support player development so purchasing new goals was high on our priority list.

“We are thankful to MTW for making this happen and look forward to celebrating many goals in the years to come,” said Warren.

The Singleton Strikers Football Club has a long history in the community, running for 46 years. It is the home of Premier Football for the Upper Hunter, offering dedicated professional coaching and football sporting opportunities. The Singleton Strikers Football Club – Premier is based at Howe Park, Singleton with training facilities also at Civic Park, Singleton.

MTW General Manager, Cris Shadbolt, was pleased to help improve equipment at the club.

“Football unites our community, bringing people together across all ages to enjoy community sport and competition.

“It is important the club has quality football gear and plenty of it to support all ages of football at the club. We are pleased our funding allowed the club to buy two new full size portable football goals to be enjoyed by players at the club for many seasons to come.”
