Block out Saturday, 9th December for a Red Hot Family Fun Day at Queens Park, Mackay in support of those in our community affected by cancer.

In 2020, 32,547 Queenslanders were diagnosed with cancer and 9,840 people lost their battle. Mums, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, friends and work colleagues. It’s a frightening number.

We all know someone who has been affected in some way by cancer and so does the crew at Red Hot Couriers Group. A family business with strong ties to the community, this year they have had an unprecedented number of workers, families and friends that have all had a tough time with cancer. Now they are on a mission to raise money as much money as possible for Cancer Council Queensland.

When it comes to working towards a cancer free future even the usually gruff Operations Manager of Red Hot Couriers Group, Shane Carslake gets emotional on the subject.

“It gets me every time. It rips people’s lives apart, family and friends, people we work with. It’s a subject and a cause I just can’t ignore. It’s also a subject Red Hot owners Kellie and Adrian Turner feel just as strongly about,” Shane said.

So, they have decided to hold the ‘Red Hot Couriers – Family Fun Day and the ‘The Amazing Race – Mackay’ on Saturday 9th December hoping to raise $50,000 for the Cancer Council. Plus, their staff have been doing plenty of extra fundraising too.

“So far, we are humbled by the support we are getting from staff doing their own fundraisers like 20’s clubs, pie drives and movie nights,” said Shane.

“Our suppliers are getting onboard too. BB Print have been designing and donating A3 posters for us to use. Our web designer, Fiona Kroll from Coffee & Hops is coming along on the day to act as official photographer, and we have customers offering to get involved and making donations. It really is quite heartwarming.”

The crew at Red Hot Couriers are encouraging people to register for a team for the Amazing Race or to just come along and enjoy the festivities at the Family Fun Day.

The big day kicks off at 9am and there will be a ton of activities to appeal to everyone. Jumping castles, rock climbing wall, adrenaline rush, face painting, live music, food and drinks, community stalls and celebrity guests such as Supercar driver Declan Fraser.

Red Hot Couriers Group have been picking up and delivering around Australia for over 25 years and strive to be the mining industry’s best. One of the reasons they have seen the success they have is their attention to detail and their ability to deliver on promise. When they say red hot, they mean urgent. And this year their most urgent delivery will be in support of cancer.
