On a recent weekend adventure to the Central Coast, we passed through Lake Munmorah and discovered La Notte Uno – which translates into English as Night One. You’ll find this delightful Italian restaurant on the Pacific Highway.
Our journey to the coast had been plagued by bad weather, so it was a welcome respite to escape the cold rain, seek out a warm meal and have a break from driving.
La Notte Uno is open 7 days for dinner, Monday to Saturday from 5pm till 9:30pm and lunch, Tuesday to Sunday 11:30am till 2:30pm. It offers great Italian food as well as a large selection of cocktails and specialty coffees.
La Notte Uno is owned and operated by Antonio Cuttonaro, or Tony as he is commonly known. Tony had the La Notte Uno at Penrith and retired, handing the reigns to his son, but upon discovering that retirement didn’t suit him he started the La Notte Uno in Lake Munmorah. Lucky for us!
As we were shown to our table, I noticed the red and white checkered tablecloths that really gave the place an authentic Italian restaurant feel.
We sat down and looked over the menu and decided to try their Bruschetta which came out with four slices of toasted bread, dribbled over with balsamic glaze and a pot of the tomato topping, which smelt fresh and amazing. You could spoon on as much or as little of the topping as you liked.
For mains I decided upon the La Notte Pollo which translates as, “The Chicken Night” which to me sounded like a poultry-based superhero. Sorry, that was a fowl joke…
However, a joke the meal was not. It was absolutely delicious, or “Delizioso” as the case may be. Grilled chicken marinated in a caramelised orange sauce, served with chips and salad and garnished with two slices of orange. You could taste the fresh orange flavour and it complimented the chicken perfectly.
My partner who loves a good pasta decided upon the Boscaiola, which came with your choice of pasta from Penne, Fettuccine, or Spaghetti, as well as gluten free options. The Boscaiola pasta was served covered in sauteed bacon and mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce. Very creamy and filling.
Then finally, what better way to finish off a beautiful meal then with dessert, Chocolate Volcano and Mississippi Mud Cake, both served with cream and ice cream and were very tasty, or if you will, “Gustoso.”
So, if you like good Italian food and you’re a local to the Central Coast or maybe you plan on passing through there, call into La Notte Uno and say hello or “Ciao” to Tony.
Buon appetito!
