The inaugural Resources Centre of Excellence Queensland Resources & Innovation Expo will be held on 11 July. The newly created bi-annual event will feature hands on demonstrations of resource innovation, showcasing next-generation technologies like AI, automation, and data analytics that are advancing coal, critical minerals, and broader operational efficiency and circularity. Attendees will engage in expert led discussions on sustainable resources, exploring innovative approaches to environmental stewardship, resource rehabilitation, and ESG practices for an enduring industry with positive societal impact. The event will also provide exclusive networking opportunities with key industry players and investors.

“We’re excited to launch this event and bring together key players in the industry to celebrate innovation and progress,” said Steven Boxall, CEO at the Resources Centre of Excellence.

“The expo is unique in that its focus is on our region’s resources sector, providing a platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies, fostering industry collaboration, and driving sustainable advancements in the resources sector.

“It will bring together industry leaders, technology innovators, policymakers, investors and anyone interested to explore solutions that enhance efficiency, safety and environmental responsibility.

“We encourage businesses and the community to get involved and help us make this a fantastic event.”

The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is the official Principal Sponsor of the expo. As the peak body representing the state’s resources sector, QRC’s support underscores the significance of this event in driving innovation, sustainability and industry growth.

“The QRC is thrilled to put our name behind the inaugural Queensland Resources & Innovation Expo that will be held in one of our state’s largest mining regions,” said Janette Hewson, Chief Executive Officer of the QRC.

“This event provides a platform for showcasing Queensland’s capabilities and position as a global leader in mining innovation and technology.

“The expo will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to highlight the sector’s contribution to Queensland’s economy and future prosperity.”

Remote Energy will be showcasing their iON-Drive DC-iX: a fully independent, diesel-free anti-idle solution for haul trucks that eliminates unnecessary idling while maintaining effective cabin climate control, providing cooling and heating as needed.

“The system operates in 30 to 45 minute intervals, automatically shutting down when the truck starts again, allowing the battery to recharge. It integrates seamlessly with the truck’s existing OEM in-cab air conditioning controls,” explained Remote Energy’s Peter Clark.

“Think of it as an efficient climate control system powered by its own battery, allowing operators to stay comfortable without running the main engine.

Peter said they chose to exhibit at the expo for its exposure to mining leaders and new business opportunities in the resources sector.

“Our ideal customer for these products is mining companies so the expo is the perfect platform to show our iON-Drive DC-iX as the solution cuts fuel use and emissions, aligning with the industry’s sustainability goals.

“Come along and see the DC-iX in person – a game-changing anti-idle HVAC system that cuts fuel use, slashes emissions and keeps operators comfortable. You can also talk to our team about other remote and offgrid solutions we have to offer.”

Strata Worldwide will be showcasing its surface and underground proximity detection systems, HazardAI and HazardAVERT. Both systems are designed to help keep people safe from unwanted vehicle interactions.

Strata Worldwide’s Graeme Naylor said when he first heard about the expo it ticked all the boxes.

“As a supplier of high-quality safety solutions, a niche local expo that showcases innovation in the industry and is designed to attract an engaging audience is something we immediately wanted to be a part of and help to make a success.

“We saw it as a perfect opportunity to show what our surface and underground proximity detection systems, HazardAI and HazarAVERT, can do and feature displays from our ground support, communications, gas and dust monitoring product lines at our stand.

“In addition we are excited to have Strata Worldwide products installed in the underground mine environment at the RCOE, including an underground refuge chamber, so that people who attend the expo can really see and feel what the products can do.”

Graeme said he hopes to see many members of the public come along and see the wide range of technologies and services that will be on display at the expo.

“It will be advantageous to the public, as well as State and local industry peers, to come along to see that coal and the resource sector aren’t dirty words, they are ones of prosperity and innovation. The truth of it is that Australia is the tip of the technological spear in many facets of safety, quality and production in the resources industry and we shouldn’t be shy about showing off what we have developed.”
