Moolarben Coal Mine is investing over $200,000 into community groups and projects across the Mid-Western region through its Community Support Program in 2025.
This funding will be shared across 35 local community organisations that work in the areas of education, environmental sustainability, healthcare, infrastructure, arts and cultural heritage.
Representatives from the successful community groups and Moolarben Coal recently attended a morning tea presentation to celebrate their success.
Moolarben Coal General Manager, Brian Wesley recognised the significant contribution the community organisations make to the region.
“Congratulations to all the successful 2025 grant recipients.
“This year we are excited to be funding a variety of projects including building renovations, new equipment, facility upgrades, youth development days, program training, technology updates, new resources, local events and a festival.
“Community groups are the backbone of any community and even a small donation can go a long way in making positive change in the community.
“Since 2010, Moolarben has proudly invested over $1.2 million in funding to community groups and initiatives in the Mid-Western Region, reinforcing our commitment to creating a lasting, positive impact beyond mining.
“With over 1,000 employees in our workforce, most residing in the Mid-Western Region, we take pride in our close connection to the community. Additionally, some of our employees are actively involved in, or benefit from, the organisations we partner with.
“We look forward to seeing all the projects enhance the lives of people living in our community,” said Brian.
The Moolarben Coal Community Support Program runs annually and is funded by Yancoal Australia, aiming to make a positive difference in the local community and to the lives of the people who work and live in Mudgee.
Lifeline Central West was one of the recipients and CEO Stephanie Robinson said the money will make a huge difference.
“We are incredibly grateful to Moolarben Coal for supporting the establishment of our Lifeline Central West Hub in Mudgee. This funding marks a significant step in expanding access to critical mental health and crisis support services in our region. With the community’s needs growing, this partnership helps ensure that no one in Mudgee or the surrounding areas has to face their darkest moments alone.”
