Christmas is coming, and for many families in Mackay, the magic of the season starts with something simple – a gesture of kindness that reminds them they’re not alone. Thanks to Werner Engineering’s Christmas Donation Drive, more local children and families doing it tough will feel that joy this festive season.
This Christmas, Werner Engineering once again showed its commitment to the Mackay community by running a successful donation drive in partnership with the Mackay Neighbourhood Hub, supporting local families and individuals doing it tough during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
As rising rents, grocery prices and fuel costs continue to place pressure on households, many families in the region are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet. Recognising these challenges, Werner Engineering stepped forward to make a meaningful difference – gathering much-needed items to bring comfort and festive cheer to those facing hardship.
The company rallied employees, customers and suppliers to contribute to the cause, collecting non-perishable food items, children’s toys, toiletries, pet food, food vouchers, Christmas decorations and festive treats.
“Many families in Mackay are struggling more than ever before,” said Werner Engineering Director, Darryl Stark.
“We’ve all seen the impact that rising living costs and the lack of genuine government attention to real community hardship have had on ordinary Australians. This initiative was our way to provide compassion and support, by standing with our community and ensuring no family or child missed out on the joy of Christmas.
“We are grateful to all staff, customers and suppliers who contributed to this year’s appeal – proving that when the Mackay community comes together, kindness can truly change lives.”
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, boxes of donations were delivered directly to the Mackay Neighbourhood Hub’s Christmas Appeal, ensuring families and children across the region could experience the joy and spirit of the season.
“Christmas is about community and connection,” said Darryl.
“When everyone gives a little, together we can make a big difference. We’re proud to stand alongside our community and help make this Christmas brighter for those who truly need it.”
