Bring on the BBQ

The MACH Energy Mount Pleasant Operation Aboriginal Community Development Fund has funded a special asset for the local community and businesses – the Community BBQ Trailer.

This unique BBQ trailer is a fantastic initiative that will benefit the community for years to come. Steve Fordham from Blackrock Industries came up with the concept which invites local “not for profit” community organisations to use the Community BBQ Trailer for free.

The trailer was designed and built by Brandon “Eddie” Edwards, owner of Muswellbrook business, Eddies Trailers & Steel and involved Gundi Program participants from St Heliers Correctional Centre. The trailer and Gundi Program participants are proudly funded by the MACH Energy Mount Pleasant Operation Aboriginal Community Development Fund. Signage and graphics were also sourced from local businesses.

With 12 burners, hot water, shade and many other features including the “kitchen sink”, the trailer has everything you need to host your BBQ event.

MACH Energy Mount Pleasant Operation’s Ngaire Baker said that they were proud to support an initiative that would have long term value for the community.

“This idea of Steve’s is really a gift that keeps on giving,” explained Ngaire.

“Community groups will be able to hold fundraising events without having to pay hire costs which will enable them to raise more money. Businesses will be able to host events for their workforce or customers without incurring large costs for hiring venues. The trailer can be used for so many different purposes all aimed at benefitting the community and bringing people together.”

“I hope everyone in the region will have the opportunity to enjoy a few sausage sandwiches from the Community BBQ Trailer in the years to come.”

Hire of the trailer is free however to ensure the safe return of this community asset a deposit is required. Local businesses can also book the BBQ Trailer for a small fee which will assist with the upkeep of the trailer and facilities.
