This month the Complete Parts and @ The Coalface $500 Community Gift goes to Upper Hunter Youth Services, an organisation dedicated to supporting young people and their families in the Upper Hunter.

This year the Upper Hunter Youth Services (UHYS) will be holding a free ‘fun day’ as part of the celebration of Youth Week on Tuesday April 12, and are inviting children and their parents/carers from across the Upper Hunter to attend.

The event will be held during the school holidays at their Youth Centre situated within the Muswellbrook Showground. It is an outside event that will adhere to COVID safe conditions.

The day will start at 11am with activities including a free BBQ, rock climbing, bungy trampoline, face painting, Crazy Hair spray, plus a lot more fun games on offer until the event finishes at 2pm. They will also have the Local Services in attendance.

Tariq Fayyoumi, UHYS Program Manager said they are aiming to attract 100-200 children and young people between the ages of 10 and 17 along with their families to this fantastic free event.

“Youth Week is an opportunity for young people in communities across Australia to come together and celebrate,” said Tariq. “UHYS are proud to host this event which will allow young people in the Upper Hunter to come together to celebrate Youth Week. It’s all about having fun and meeting new people in a safe and friendly environment. We hope to see as many people as possible come and join us for this special event.”

UHYS provides free services for young people aged 10 to 18 and their families in a variety of ways, from counselling to providing support, advocacy, and referrals.

They also operate a Youth Centre aimed at meeting the social and recreational needs of young people by providing a place of engagement and early intervention for young people experiencing problems such as behavioural, social and life skills.

Their service provides support in Muswellbrook, Singleton and the Upper Hunter including Aberdeen, Denman, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Scone and surrounding areas.
