Tell us about the business.
I’m Troy Sawdy and I am the CEO of Titan IND. We are Australian owned and operated and deliver complete maintenance from paddock to pit, providing a flexible, cost-effective solution for businesses to manage their vehicle, equipment fleet and workforce needs across most parts of Australia. We quickly respond to any fluctuations in demand, provide workers with specialised skills, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
How long have you been doing business?
Titan IND has been around since 2019.
How many people work for the business?
We have over 200 employees nationwide as we speak, but we are increasing rapidly with a lot more growth in WA, NT, SA & NSW.
Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.
A typical day in the office for me can range from a broken aircon unit for a dozer in a paddock, to service on a fleet car at any one of our workshops, a flight to WA, or meeting with the team at our headquarters in Rockhampton.
What’s the best thing about the business?
Giving back to the community and show our appreciation for their continued support. I’ve just donated a large amount of meat from my farm to the food bank in Yeppoon, which has fueled my fire to want to help and give back even more.
The worst thing?
My biggest challenge has been watching Titan IND grow so rapidly, not getting the chance to know the ins and outs of every part of the company. Luckily, I can trust the capable people in my team to get the job done.
What are the biggest challenges facing your business?
Skilled labour shortage, which is why we are putting more focus on the next generation upskilling them for the future. There is no better feeling than seeing one of our school-based apprentices finish their trade.
What is the biggest opportunity for your business right now?
We have some exciting tender contracts in the works and expect these large contracts will assist in growing our business.
What is the business most proud of?
The way Titan IND cares for its people. We are a family, and everyone looks out for one another.
Community or other causes close to its heart and values?
We currently sponsor a lot of local footy clubs, as we believe that mental health and sport go hand in hand. We encourage our employees to get out and join a sporting team or community club. We understand how isolating FIFO can be and having that commitment to a sport or club can really help break the feeling of isolation.
Any funny or heartwarming stories to share?
I will never forget the first call I had from one of our employees that we had put through our upskill program, as he had just finished his dual trade. He expressed his gratitude to be able to purchase his first home with his wife and new baby. He was ecstatic. Those calls will never get old. Knowing Titan IND employment can mean so much to a family’s future.
Any employees that deserve a shout out?
Lisa, Titan IND Finance Manager and my partner. She works 365 days a year at building Titan IND into the company it is today. She is the brains and the beauty behind it all.
And a shout out to the whole Titan IND team. I am so proud of the community we have created and I’m excited for the future.
