Tell us about the business.

PETRO Industrial is an Australian-owned company specialising in fuel storage, fuel management and fluid handling solutions. We design, manufacture, supply and maintain systems that help industries safely store, transfer, monitor and manage fuels and other liquids.

Our work supports sectors like mining, construction, transport, agriculture and infrastructure – industries that rely on dependable fuel systems every single day. What sets PETRO apart is that we don’t simply supply equipment; we deliver complete solutions. From bulk fuel storage tanks and dispensing systems through to automation, monitoring, servicing and long-term maintenance, our goal is to provide reliable infrastructure that keeps operations moving.

How long have you been doing business?

PETRO was founded in 2009 and over the past 16 years we’ve grown from a specialist supplier into a trusted partner for businesses that require dependable fuel systems and ongoing support.

How many people work for the business?

Our team continues to grow as demand for fuel infrastructure and service support increases. We have a dedicated group across engineering, fabrication, service, compliance and project delivery, supported by experienced technical and operational staff. Maintaining a strong team culture where people take pride in their work is something we value highly.

Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.

There’s rarely a typical day for us. Our team might be designing a new fuel storage system, preparing equipment for delivery, servicing tanks on site or helping customers navigate compliance and maintenance requirements.

A big part of what we do is problem solving. Customers often come to us with complex fuel storage or transfer challenges, and our job is to design practical, safe and reliable solutions. That requires close collaboration between our engineering, fabrication and service teams to make sure the systems we deliver perform in real-world conditions.

What are the biggest challenges facing your business?

One of the biggest challenges in our industry is that it is not always regulated strongly enough. We regularly meet customers who have been frustrated by suppliers cutting corners or delivering systems that do not properly follow Australian Standards.

At PETRO, we take a different approach. We design and deliver solutions that adhere to the highest standards and best practices because safety, reliability and compliance matter. While it can sometimes mean more work upfront, it ensures our customers receive infrastructure they can rely on long term.

What are the biggest opportunities for your business right now?

We’re seeing strong demand for smarter fuel management solutions. Businesses want greater visibility of fuel usage, improved efficiency and better data to support operational and environmental decisions.

PETRO is actively designing and developing new technologies that aim to change the way fuel systems are monitored and managed. This includes advanced fuel management capabilities, fuel quality control and cleanliness monitoring, as well as carbon tracking that helps organisations better understand and manage their emissions.

Combining traditional fuel infrastructure with intelligent monitoring and data is an area where we see significant opportunity – and it’s one of the ways we’re helping shape the future of the industry.

What is the business most proud of?

We’re most proud of the long-term relationships we’ve built with our customers. Many organisations we work with have partnered with us for years, which reflects the trust they place in our team and the quality of our work.

Community or other causes close to its heart and values?

PETRO believes strongly in supporting local industry and the communities where we operate. Investing in people, skills and long-term partnerships is central to our values.

Any employees that deserve a shout out?

Our team deserves recognition. From engineers and technicians to the service crews working on-site, everyone contributes to delivering safe and reliable outcomes for our customers.
