Newcastle Hi-Tensile Bolt Company (NHTB) is a fastener and industrial supplies specialist located in Newcastle, servicing Australia.
We are a comprehensive fastener source and supplier to thousands of companies spanning the construction, manufacturing, mining, engineering, automotive, rail, civil and maritime industries.
We are also open to the public, and with no minimum order, you can never have one too many! You can also order online 24/7. With large stock holdings we can always help you out.
How long have you been doing business?
Over 50 years! We are an Australian owned family business and plan on being here for another 50 – and many more, serving our customers and community.
How many people work for the business?
29. We have sales reps on the road, sales staff in-house, a warehouse team, purchasing and support staff. We have a great team here at NHTB.
Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.
We now open at 7am so we are on the go early. Customers and trucks all arrive early and it’s go, go, go from there.
What’s the best thing about the business?
Our customers of course! – geez is this in the Coalface or what? We love the stories we hear over the counter, getting to know our customers and being able to help them out. We also love hearing where our fasteners and industrial supplies end up – from the park bench you sit on to the bridge you drive across. They are everywhere.
What are the biggest challenges facing your business?

What is the biggest opportunity for your business right now?
Traditionally we are a fastener supplier and always will be – however we now sell industrial supplies and consumables to increase our offering to our customers. From abrasives to cutting tools, hand tools, chemicals, adhesives, safety PPE, lifting and rigging and even stainless hardware. Our product line has 56000 products and is still growing.

What is the business most proud of?
Growing from a one-man band to who we are today. NHTB is now the largest stockholder of fasteners in the Newcastle and Hunter region, meaning we are reliable and have a quick turnaround to get orders out the door. We also now have a great online store for customers to use 24/7.
Community or other causes close to its heart and values?
We support several charities but especially love supporting the Carrington Rowing club as we are based in Carrington and Richard Goninan (Dad) still rows for them today.
