Multitrade Building Hire offer one of the largest privately owned hire fleets focusing on mining and industries within Queensland and NSW. Our biggest focus is innovation in the portable building sector, bringing unique capabilities with our solar powered units. We also offer all standard fare, from site offices and crib rooms to fully self-contained amenities, with options that are standard or custom-built.
Whether it’s a short-term project or a large-scale site setup, we’re all about delivering practical solutions that are built tough, work hard and don’t cut corners.
How long have you been doing business?
We’ve been in the game for over 45 years, so it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about what works on site.
How many people work for the business?
Multitrade Building Hire is a family business with just under 20 people made up by our service and sales team along with our contracting team who provide installations for our buildings and deliver industrial contracting services.
Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.
No two days are the same and we like it that way. One day might involve planning logistics for a remote mine site install, the next we’re doing quality checks on a custom build or working on new product upgrades. But one thing that stays constant? The team’s focus is on getting the job done right and keeping our clients happy.
What are the biggest challenges facing your business?
The rising cost of materials is definitely a challenge, like it is for a lot of industries right now. We’re always looking for ways to absorb those costs without compromising quality.
What are the biggest opportunities for your business right now?
Sustainability is a huge one. More and more companies are shifting towards greener solutions and we see solar-powered portable buildings as a big part of that future.
That’s why we developed our Solar Facility – a reliable, off-grid energy solution that reduces the need for diesel generators and fixed infrastructure. We’ve just upgraded the model with expanded battery storage (up to 32.8kWh), and just under 9kw solar array provides ample power for remote operations. We combine this with our Solar Toilet project for a fully off grid self-contained solution to industry and site operations.
It’s exciting to be part of a movement that not only benefits our clients but also the environment.
What is the business most proud of?
We’re proud of our commitment to innovation and sustainability, particularly with the development of our solar building range. It’s proof that you can build tough, practical solutions without compromising on environmental impact.
Beyond that, we’re just as proud of our customer relationships over the years. Many of our clients return because they know they’re getting reliable service, get the job done properly and deliver quality products they can rely on.
Community or other causes close to its heart and values?
We believe in giving back to the community where we live and work. From sponsoring local sports clubs like CQ Cricket and Rugby League Gladstone to getting behind events like the Gladstone Harbour Festival and Rotary’s annual Golf Day – we love backing the region that backs us.
