The International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) is bringing the mining world to Australia in October 2026 and is expected to have more local operators than ever before in Sydney to connect with it for a critical exchange of ideas, views and experiences.
BHP, Whitehaven Coal, Glencore, Vale, Agnico Eagle, Fortescue, Perenti, Thiess, Barminco and Byrnecut are just some of the global mining and contract services heavyweights that will have key personnel leading important conference discussions and roaming the exhibition floor at ICC Sydney from October 27-29.
All up, more than 500 mining and exploration companies are expected to attend IMARC 2026. A similar number of exhibitors from around the world, including many leading large and small innovators, will be showcasing the latest technologies and services.
“IMARC is about connecting mine site teams with the ideas, technologies and people that can help improve operations,” said Event Director Sherene Asnasyous.

She said the industry’s deepest conference program, workshops, networking platforms and even transport options have all evolved to ensure those with the most to gain from IMARC attendance – mine site personnel often stationed a long way from the event venue – profit from the time invested.
“As mining professionals it’s easy to become focused on the challenges and processes within our own operations,” says NSW Southern Coalfield mine Superintendent and IMARC Advisory Committee member, Garrick Alden.
“IMARC provides an opportunity to step back, see what is happening across the broader industry and learn about new technologies, innovations and approaches being used elsewhere.
“For me, the biggest benefits are the networking opportunities and the practical knowledge you gain from speaking directly with operators, suppliers and industry experts.
“Attendees can take those learnings back to site and evaluate what could improve safety, efficiency and overall performance at their own operation.
“With free entry and transport available through the NSW Delegate Mining Initiative, it’s an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.”
Complimentary Mining Guest Passes and daily return bus services from key regional mining communities in NSW, sponsored by Pulse, will ensure IMARC is readily accessible for mining personnel across the host state.
The passes and free participation in Maintenance of Competence (MoC) workshops and IMARC networking events add value for visitors from further afield.
Expertly framed and run Mines Rescue workshops will give practising MoC certificate holders exposure to practical operational learnings and latest insights into key risk areas across underground and opencut metalliferous and coal operations.
Members of specific industry associations may also be able to log professional development hours from attendance at key mining operator and capability sessions covering topics ranging from digital transformation and operational integration, productivity and cost discipline, and project development and delivery, to energy efficiency and decarbonisation strategies, and AI and data-driven decision making.
IMARC’s first Coal Industry Networking Reception, co-hosted with the Hunter Mining Club and sponsored by Pulse, will bring together professionals from across Australia’s coal sector, including operators, technical specialists, suppliers and industry leaders.
Among other unique networking opportunities will be a Swedish Innovation meeting hosted by industry and government representatives of mining technology powerhouse and key Australian trading partner, Sweden.
The workshops and networking events complement one of the largest mining conference programs in the world today.
