Singleton Pony Club is the latest junior sports organisation
to have received funding assistance from Glencore’s
Junior Sports Development Program.
The program provides grants of up to $7500 to non-profit junior sports groups
for projects that address the long term needs of junior (under-18) participants.
Singleton Pony Club received $6000 to assist in the establishment of the ex-
Singleton Army Barracks Hospital as a clubhouse.
As a result of the funding they were able to conduct extensive repairs and
renovations to improve and upgrade the clubhouse. These included extensive
electrical wiring, wall and floor repairs, weather proofing the building,
handrails for safe access, decking repairs and establishing water supply,
waste water and sewage.
Brian Pease, President of the Singleton Pony Club said the club and all the
members are very appreciate of Glencore’s support.
“The money provided by Glencore has provided the Singleton Pony Club an
opportunity to have a functioning clubhouse with an office, canteen, meeting
room and facilities, that will support the riders and their parents well into the
future.”
Glencore has now provided assistance to more than 220 sports clubs in NSW
and Queensland through the Junior Sports Development Program, part of a
Community Investment portfolio that will see almost $5 million invested in
communities associated with the company’s mining operations.
