The Lower Hunter Community Connect Day is back on Thursday May 7, 2020 and will again provide a one-stop-shop for people from the area to connect with services and supports to better meet there needs.
The event is an initiative of the youth and community services agencies within the Lower Hunter Region and aims to connect people within the Lower Hunter to services and supports in a friendly setting.
The day will see people connect to vital services such as accommodation and housing providers, health and wellbeing agencies, legal and financial assistance, employment study and youth programs as well as general supports for people who are doing it tough or who might be at risk of homelessness. There will be plenty of food and entertainment provided on the day as well as birth certificates, toiletries and clothing and basic beauty services.
The event is being hosted this year by Maitland Basketball Association who have generously offered us their space. “Maitland Basketball is very much a part of the Community and it is our pleasure to assist our community come together to make genuine connections with local supports and services,” said Stacy Jacobs, President Maitland Basketball Association.
Although similar events happen in larger centres like Newcastle, this initiative will ensure the event and supports are accessible to people who reside in the Cessnock, Maitland and lower Hunter districts.
“We would love services and agencies to be part of this inaugural Lower Hunter event by contacting me at Headspace on 4931 1000,” said Liz Murphy-May, Committee Member.
