If you’re looking to start your career in mining, applications are now open for Glencore’s 2026 Graduate Programs. The pathway provides some exciting opportunities for engineers, environmental scientists, geologists, accountants, health and safety, human resources and IT professionals.
Glencore’s graduate program runs for two-years and since 2020, 620 new graduates have headed out to Glencore sites in NSW and Queensland.
The programs offer a competitive salary and benefits package, hands-on experience and first-class mentoring from some of the best the industry has to offer.
Human Resources Manager at Glencore Coal Michelle Montgomery said the program is more than just a career opportunity; graduates develop important new skills while experiencing regional Australia and immersing themselves into new communities.
“Our Graduate Program provides a platform for emerging professionals to learn, contribute, and thrive in a supportive and challenging environment.
“Beyond technical skills, participants have the chance to learn from industry experts and hone their skills in communication, teamwork and leadership.
“The foundations of our program include an absolute focus on safety culture, teamwork, integrity, and having responsibility to solve real challenges. These focus areas are, in turn, tied to Glencore’s core values,” said Michelle.
Previous graduates of the program couldn’t speak highly enough about their experience.
“I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the Oaky Creek team as a whole – engineers, planners, and operators. The program has given me a well-rounded understanding of what the expectations of my role are and how I fit into the bigger picture of the coal handling and preparation plant. No two days are the same, which is one of the best aspects of my job! You can never be bored,” said Amy Scott, Graduate Process Engineer, Oaky Creek Coal Queensland.
“The Glencore Graduate Program gives you a head start in your career, preparing you with industry experiences and essential skills. The opportunity to rotate between various operations in New South Wales and Queensland allows for valuable exposure to different mining environments, each with its own set of challenges and opportunities. Thanks to the experience I gained from the program, I was able to land a permanent role as an Environment and Community Officer at the Mt Owen/Glendell operations,” said Madison Freeman.
Applications for the 2026 Graduate Program will close on Sunday 27 April 2025. For more detail and to apply: https://www.glencore.com.au/careers/students-apprentices-graduates#graduate |
