Junior sport clubs located in select regional areas of New South Wales may be eligible for grants of up to $7,500 thanks to Glencore Coal’s Junior Sports Development Program.

Applications are now open for the program, which aims to empower not-for-profit junior sports groups in the Singleton, Muswellbrook, Cessnock, Maitland, Upper Hunter and Mid-Western LGAs.

Glencore has supported hundreds of funding requests from junior clubs and organisations across New South Wales since the program was established in 2012.

In 2024, the program helped provide additional funding to 37 New South Wales junior sports organisations and injected over $200,000 into regional communities, providing greater access to skills, equipment, and important safety programs.

Craig Strudwick, Glencore Coal’s Social Performance Manager, said the company recognised the important contributions junior sports clubs make to our regional communities.

“Beyond physical fitness, our junior sports clubs help young people to build resilience, maintain good mental wellbeing and develop a sense of belonging, creating a positive impact that extends far beyond the field,” Craig said.

“These clubs are often run by passionate volunteers, including many parents, who dedicate their time to create these opportunities for our youth.

“We’re incredibly proud to play a part in helping these clubs and groups continue to deliver such positive benefits across our regional communities.”

Applications for the program are open from Saturday 1 March 2025 and close midnight Monday 31 March 2025. Not-for-profit junior sports clubs in the Singleton, Muswellbrook, Cessnock, Maitland, Scone and Mid-Western LGAs are encouraged to apply.
