DOUBLING DOWN

Congratulations to Anglo American! Not only did Grosvenor’s Mines Rescue team taken home the win at the 59th annual Australian Underground Coal Mines Rescue competition last month, the Moranbah North team also claimed second place. Grosvenor and Moranbah North were also the winner and runner-up at the 2023 Queensland State Cup in July, a top notch double act from Anglo American.

It’s also a double celebration for Glencore Coal with both its Newlands and Oaky Creek coal operations commemorating forty years. Over the past four decades, both operations have worked to achieve excellence and deliver outstanding results, with both having a history of open cut and underground operations. In recognition of this, each mine planned a series of events and activities to celebrate their anniversaries.

Good things also come in two for Whitehaven Coal, acquiring both Blackwater and Daunia mines from BMA. Whitehaven CEO and Managing Director Paul Flynn said they are looking forward to welcoming the teams at Daunia and Blackwater into the Whitehaven business and working with the local community and other stakeholders.

Speaking of twos, we hope you enjoy the second last edition of @ The Coalface for 2023!
