Safety was showcased at its best this month with the Queensland Mine Rescue State Cup bringing mines rescues teams together to display skill, courage and teamwork.
Congratulations to Anglo American’s Grosvenor Mine for taking home the trophy, though every person who puts their hand up to take on the rigorous and demanding role of a mines rescue member are champions in our books.
For the first time ever, our industry was represented at the Australasian Rescue Challenge. The Emergency Response Team from Glencore’s Oaky Creek operation competed in the challenge alongside professionals from SES, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance services. Not only did they show off their skills, but it was also an opportunity to learn from some of the best emergency professionals in the world.
Not long now until the 34th Annual Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference! When it comes to showcasing health and safety in our industry, QMIHSC can’t be beat.
