A-SALT-ing the Senses in Emerald

Published

on

A recent evening of enjoyment and catching up with long-time friends was spent at Salt Bar & Grill in Emerald. It was a terrific night, filled with laughter and fabulous food. My mouth is salivating as I relive this delicious meal.

It kicked off with the Tempura Seafood, an absolute feast for the senses. A fantastic combination of crispy, flavourful, and fresh seafood. The tempura batter gave the barramundi, tiger prawns, and salt and pepper squid a light and crispy texture that paired perfectly with the beer battered chips and petite salad.

This dish is a seafood lover’s dream come true, with each bite providing a burst of flavour and texture that left me craving more. The perfect balance of flavours in this dish is sure to impress even the most discerning palates.

My Almond Crusted Salmon was an absolute delight. The grilled salmon was cooked to perfection, and the almond crust added a delightful crunch. The creamy potato and mini pumpkin salad provided a lovely balance to the dish, and the creamy avocado sauce was the perfect finishing touch.

My friend’s Abura Soba was a unique and flavourful dish that they enjoyed as lovers of Japanese cuisine. The dry noodle dish is made with a soy-based sauce bursting with flavour, and the toppings of pork belly rashers, nori, shiitake mushroom, seaweed, and boiled egg all add their own unique flavours and textures to the dish. This dish was both filling and satisfying, and the flavours were so rich and complex that you won’t be able to get enough of it.

Their Teriyaki Salmon was a true winner in every way.

The grilled salmon was cooked to perfection, and the teriyaki sauce added the perfect sweet and savoury flavour to each bite. The creamy potato and stir-fried Asian-style vegetables were the perfect accompaniments to the salmon, and the garnish of spring onion and sesame seeds added an extra layer of flavour and texture. Overall, a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal.

As we finished our evening, we discovered that they would be closing for a revamp on the restaurant. I have kept a keen eye on their Facebook page @saltbarandgrillemerald to see what would be happening. The new menu looks exciting, and the cocktail menu has been expanded – though you can’t go wrong with their Espresso Martini, it was simply sublime.

Described as “a concept that will bring a breath of fresh coastal air to Emerald” and to “showcase fresh Australian produce with an international twist”, it seems like another trip to Salt, attached to the Mayfair Ridge Motel, will be in order in the near future.

If you want to try out their new offerings, like Gold Band Snapper, King Fish, Char Grilled Angus Sirloin or Free-Range Chicken, give them a call on (07) 4982 2260 to book your table. It promises to be even better than our evening.
