As a Platinum Partner of the North Queensland Cowboys, Bravus Mining and Resources has been the proud presenting partner of the Adopt-a-School program – the Cowboys’ longest running community program – since 2020.

The program was established as a long-term social commitment to North Queensland communities and gives participating schools the opportunity to utilise their ‘adopted’ Cowboy as a role model for their students.

Bravus Mining and Resources Head of Community, Kate Campbell, said that the Adopt-a-School program was an important part of Bravus’ partnership with the Cowboys.

“Both Bravus Mining and Resources and the North Queensland Cowboys are organisations that are dedicated to the success and advancement of regional Queensland and its people,” Ms Campbell said.

“Our team members are big fans of what the Cowboys do on the field, but it is the work that the players do off the field as ambassadors and role models, that is just as important.

“That’s why supporting the Cowboys’ Adopt-A-School program is at the heart of our partnership.”

Through the Adopt-a-School program the Cowboys players make more than 650 visits to North Queensland schools each year and work with teachers to promote things like the importance of eating healthy, getting enough sleep, attending school and working hard, and trying their best at sport.

The program theme ‘Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well’ supports the NRL One Community health initiative, with each participating school using their Cowboy to assist them in sharing these messages with the aim of maintaining a healthy school community.

In 2021, the program reached around 20,000 students with more than 50 schools involved.

As all you readers know, sport is the glue of Queensland communities. These types of grassroot programs have long lasting and positive impacts and are a true demonstration of the commitment mining has to the communities it operates in. Bravo to Bravus!
