Thank you Queensland for the very warm welcome we received for the first edition of @ The Coalface Queensland.

It was wonderful to be embraced by so many of Qld’s coal mining communities – and in some cases physically embraced by some over enthusiastic readers!

No one understands better than us that there is a real lack of understanding and acknowledgement of what coal mining does for so many regions in Australia. For us, sharing the stories of the dedicated, generous and passionate people who make up our mining communities is a privilege. We only wish we could share them all.

This month our cover story is all about recognising the achievements of our industry. The Queensland Mining Awards showcase the innovation, best practice and excellence in our industry and we congratulate all the deserving winners and finalists.

With Father’s Day coming up soon we couldn’t resist doing a special Father’s Day edition of Kids @ The Coalface. While we do love a cheeky answer from the kids, instead the kids at Dysart State Primary School melted our hearts with some beautiful answers about what they love most about their dads. For all of you who have just realised Father’s Day is coming up as you read this, don’t worry we’ve got your pressie ideas covered in our Good Stuff this month.

And of course, we are jam packed with community stories. Whitehaven Coal donated a second time to the Australian Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal bringing their total donation up to a whopping $400,000. Five MEU lodges have committed to providing long-term support to Moranbah Hospital, and Fenner Conveyors and Kestrel Coal Resources have launched a partnership campaign to support local community. And that’s just to name a few!

We hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.
