Tell us about the business?

East Coast Water Blasters specialises in the sales, service and repairs of commercial and industrial pressure cleaners and plumbers jetting equipment. Offering mobile and workshop service and repairs as well as expert advice to all our customers.

How long have you been doing business?

We are very fortunate to be moving into our 6th year.

How many people work for the business?

We currently have a team of 5 with plans to employee a few more by the middle of the year to ensure we can continue to deliver our reliable service

Describe a typical day at ‘The office’.  

Not any one day is ever the same. We service a very dynamic range of customers that keeps us on our toes. It’s hectic but a great problem to have. We have a well-stocked showroom for customers to view our core range of machines and accessories. We also have a great functioning workshop that assists customers with their service needs. And an enjoyable team atmosphere where everyone is made to feel welcome.

What’s the best thing about the business?

Having happy customers and seeing them achieve fantastic results through their own businesses. Experiencing continuous growth because our customers love what we do and refer us on.

The worst thing?

Is trying to keep everyone happy. We don’t like to disappoint and understand the sense of urgency when there is a machine break down. If the customers machine isn’t working, it’s likely they can’t work so we do our very best to get them up and running as soon as possible.

What are the biggest challenges facing your business?

Like most businesses now unfortunately supply and demand. However, we are working closely with all our suppliers to ensure we minimise the risk of running out of stock.

What is the biggest opportunity for your business right now?

Building our customer base whilst maintaining our core values. Employing the right staff who will uphold our brand name, our integrity and our reputation that has led us here today.

What is the business most proud of?

Our brands name and reputation. We love to see other businesses succeed and grow due to the reliable advice and products that have been delivered supporting the service they are delivering.

Community or other causes close to its heart and values?

As passionate AFL supporters we are proud to say that we are continuing with our local sponsorship of the Maitland Saints. Having great relationships with many local businesses is extremely important to us. Being able to refer customers to one another keeps our community of small businesses busy and supported.

Any funny or heartwarming stories to share?

When Mat first put his business plan together, on paper it was a failure. Regardless he had a vison, saw an opportunity and gap in the market. He backed himself and with 20 plus years’ experience in the industry started the business anyway. In the beginning he was a sole trader in a secondhand Ute only offering onsite mobile servicing and has now led us to be the number 1 dealer for Spitwater in NSW.

Any employees that deserve a shout out?

Our entire team all play a critical part in our overall success. Each person brings their own skills and abilities to help service our customers and contribute to the company’s overall success.
