We are proud to welcome you into 2022 with our first North West issue of the year. This Autumn, we share stories of resilience, new beginnings and success.
After what we can only describe as a difficult year for many in 2021, we are thrilled to bring in the new year with the positive stories that make our industry and region so great.
Resilience has been a major theme this month as the region’s mines, businesses and community come out the other side of a challenging few years.
We sat down with David Isbester, Owner of DMI Engineering in Mullaley who described what it’s been like as a business owner tackling these challenges. Despite the mining downturn, fires, drought, mouse plague, floods and every other challenge that has been thrown at the Gunnedah region, DMI Engineering still stands proudly today servicing the community after 36 years in business.
As well as catching up with businesses and organisations who have long been in the area, we also celebrate new beginnings. Mines Rescue have built a brand new, fit for purpose training facility in Gunnedah to provide a closer hub for essential rescue and emergency training services to the regions coal industry workers, who previously had to travel as far as Moolarben.
Adding to these stories are a mix of good times at Bitter Suite Café and Bar, a relaxing trip to Lake St Claire and the reminiscing of good times from Gunnedah Rugby League’s 1998 footy team and so much more. We hope to kick your 2022 off with a smile.
