2021 has been another crazy year full of ups and downs but we are finishing the year with an issue jam packed full of positive and entertaining stories.
Our December feature this year is one of our favourites as we share and reflect on what local mines have been doing in 2021. We’re proud to celebrate the Hunter Valley mining industry for leading the way in innovation and technology, being at the forefront of increasing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and always prioritising the health and safety of its workforce above all else.
When it comes to community support, I doubt there is a single community group or organisation in the Hunter that hasn’t received a helping hand from the mining industry at some stage. So much of the contributions made by our industry go unnoticed so we are proud to be able to put a spotlight on them this month.
There’s also plenty of heartwarming stories to get you in the Christmas spirit. We are so proud to highlight two fantastic Christmas causes this year. Complete Parts & Equipment have been running their annual Christmas Giving Tree for a few years now and this year CH4 Drilling have run their first Toy Drive with outstanding results. Thanks to both of these companies, there will be plenty of less fortunate kids with a smile on their face this Christmas.
For travel this month we take you to Santa’s home in Lapland, Finland. While it won’t be possible to visit Santa at home this year due to the restrictions still in place, don’t worry as thanks to the NSW RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW he will be visiting most areas of the Hunter on the Santa Lolly Runs. Check out our list to find out when he’s coming to your neighbourhood.
From all of us @ The Coalface, it’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to bring you the community and industry stories of the Hunter for another year. Have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
