Daniel Andrews’ recovery could take ‘months’, no immediate plans for surgery on injured spine – The Age

The Victorian Premier is facing a long recovery after fracturing a vertebra but is not facing surgery as yet.

Mr Andrews has been temporarily replaced by Deputy Premier James Merlino.
Environment Minister Lily DAmbrosio praised Mr Merlino at the governments press conference on Wednesday. She said Mr Merlino, who is also the minister for education and for mental health, was up to the task for as long as necessary.
James Merlino is a consummate politician and hes doing a fantastic job as acting Premier, she said.
