China’s top legislative body will overhaul Hong Kong’s electoral system, declaring it was its responsibility to put “patriots” in power.
Ahead of Chinas annual political gala, Beijings top official in Hong Kong, Xia Baolong, told the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies last week that the Chinese government would perfect the citys electoral system.
Only in Hong Kong would some people show off their rebellion against their motherland, he said.
Important positions, under any circumstances, cannot be taken up by anti-China forces that disrupt Hong Kong.
