Ash Barty has laughed off a claim from fellow Aussie and Australian Open opponent Daria Gavrilova that she was afraid to ask the world No.1 for a lift home from training.
Gavrilova gave a light-hearted insight into the aura Barty has built up as a Grand Slam winner, despite being arguably the nicest superstar in sport.
Barty found the episode amusing – and gave her the lift, jokingly telling Gavrilova that she was an “idiot” for acting daunted.
“I have no idea what that was about,” Barty told TODAY.
