Truck driver survives 20m drop after crashing over Calder Freeway bridge at Malmsbury

A truck driver has plunged more than 20 metres off a bridge and lived to tell the tale in what police are describing as a miracle. The 36-year-old man was driving his semi-trailer northbound on the Calder Freeway when it veered and struck a concrete safety pillar at the Spring Creek Bridge in Malmsbury about 5.20am.
The rig plunged off the bridge between the north and southbound lanes, crushing the cabin.
The driver was trapped for more than two hours before being freed.
He has been flown to hospital…
