The body of a police woman who tried desperately to rescue a student swept into a whirlpool in the Blue Mountains has been found alongside the woman she tried to save.
Emergency services were called to Wollangambe Canyon, Mount Wilson, about 2.30pm on Saturday, after the two women disappeared in the Wollangambe River.
The bodies of Senior Constable Kelly Foster, 39, and the 24-year-old international student were found about midday on Sunday. They were recovered by police divers.
