Tropical low in gulf tipped to form first cyclone of 2021 season – Brisbane Times

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned the system would likely have an impact on Queensland’s far north, either as a cyclone or tropical low, into next week.



Australia could experience its first cyclone landfall for the season by early Monday, the Bureau of Meteorology has advised, with a tropical low over the western Gulf of Carpentaria expected to intensify across the weekend.
A cyclone watch is now in place from the Northern Territory-Queensland border to Pormpuraaw on the western Cape York Peninsula coast for the system, sitting 315 kilometres north-west of Mornington Island as of 10am Saturday.
